Public education is a key part of the everyday duties to all members of the Sunriver Fire Department.  A resort community where most of the areas home owners live out of the area and summer time high of over 25,000 visitors per day.  Sunriver is constantly in the public eye, with everyday opportunities for a “teachable moment”.

Throughout the year, and increasing during the summer months, stations tours are standard, with group and individual tours almost daily.  Community events like the 4th of July picnic and the Fireman's Ball are sponsored by the sub group of local firefighters, the Sunriver FirefightersAssociation.

Participation in local events put on by the Sunriver Mall, Sunriver Lodge, Sunriver Chamber of Commerce and local charities are a showcase for all members of the fire department to discuss fire prevention, awareness, safety messages and medical safety to people of all ages.
