The Sunriver Fire Department is located between circle 3 and circle 4 on Abbot Drive and was built in 1995. The fire station is a 13,000 square ft., two level building. It is equipped with two ambulances, two structural engines, one interface engine, and one light brush engine. The equipment is up-to-date and corresponds with larger agencies by having the jaws of life, a 12-lead defibrillator/monitor, and a interface firefigting eqiupment.
There are three full time career Fire Captains, three Engineers, and three firefighters in addition to the Fire Chief and a full-time administrative assistant. Presently the department is supported by 18 reserve firefighters, many are certified as EMTs. These reserves are highly dedicated, skilled and a valuable resource in keeping up with everyday operations. Some of the reserves work as much if not more than the paid duty crews.
The department insures optimum training and motivational opportunities for its members. Ongoing firefighter and EMT in service training is provided to all personnel through regular Monday, Saturday, shift drills and special drill sessions to upgrade individual and departmental needs.
The departments responsibility for fire suppression primarily lies within the boundaries of Sunriver. The ambulance service response area encompasses 322 sq. Miles, covering north of Lava Butte and south off of Hwy. 97 to Vandervert road. East and west it reaches to the high lakes area and USFS Rd. 45 to the Mt. Bachelor intersection. Signed mutual aid agreements are in effect between all agencies in Central Oregon including Wildland agencies from Jefferson County to Klamath County

Sunriver is a planned community approximately 15 miles south of Bend, Oregon surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest. Just west through the Cascades lakes scenic tour route, you'll find 16 sparkling high mountain lakes: north on Hwy. 97 awaits the Newberry National Volcanic Monument; to the west side of Hwy. 97 offers Lava River Caves, Paulina lake at Newberry Crater, and the High Desert Museum.
